According to World Health Organization data from 2018, global health expenditures reached 8.3 trillion USD—equivalent to 10% of the global GDP. Between 2000 and 2018, government health spending per capita consistently increased. Currently, in developing countries, out-of-pocket health expenditures by individuals have risen to approximately 40% of total health spending. Turkey’s health expenditures have also steadily increased since 2009.
